Albert Givens Griffin Jr. Obituary (1918 - 2003)

Mr. Albert Givens Griffin Jr., 85, of Madisonville, KY, died at 6:35 A.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the home of his daughter in Hanson, KY. \ Born May 1, 1918 in Hopkins County, KY he was the son of the late Albert Givens Griffin Sr. and Sory Robertson Griffin. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Howard Griffin. \ Mr. Griffin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and the ABC Choir. He had been a shipping clerk for Versnick Manufacturing for 29 years and was a World War II Army veteran. \ Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marcella Williams Griffin; two daughters, Mary Jane Edwards of Hanson and Jo Ann Lee of Madisonville; two sisters, Theda Tirey and Frances Whitfield, both of Madisonville; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. \ Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2003, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Weyman McGuire and Don Davis officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery near Hanson. \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice, First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir or a charity of your choice. \
