Bro. John E. Gilbert Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Bro. John E. Gilbert, 67 of Madisonville, KY passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home in Madisonville. Mr. Gilbert was born April 17, 1950 in Louisville, KY to the late Ernest Gilbert and Dorothy Finney Gilbert. He was a member, music minister and Deacon of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity at MSU. He loved music, boating, flying, watching his grandson play baseball, taking drives through the country, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Linda Gilbert of Madisonville; two sons, Jonathan Gilbert of Dawson Springs, KY and David Gilbert of Madisonville; two grandchildren; Abby Oakley and Andrew Gilbert; and one great grandchild; Waverly Oakley. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Len Young and Rev. Doug Anderson officiating.. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to7:00 P.M. Friday and after 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Gideons International or the Park Avenue Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
