CJ Gooch Obituary (1930 - 2008)

CJ Gooch, 77, of Grand Rivers, KY died at 3:25 P.M. Monday, September 1, 2008 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY with his wife, nursing staff and aides of 3-C Hall by his side. \ Born November 16, 1930 in Hopkins County, KY to the late CC Bud Gooch and Amy Melton Gooch Phillips. He was also preceded by one brother, Jimmy Gooch. \ CJ was a mighty witness for the Lord and a Christian man. \ He was owner and operator of G & P Steel Construction Company for over forty years, a US Army veteran servicing as a communication specialist for the First Calvary, and a member of the Gilbertsville Masonic Lodge. He also loved to ride his Honda Goldwing motorcycle and his scooters. \ He is survived by his wife, Celia Gooch of Grand Rivers; two sisters, Ora Lee Bearden of Madisonville and Donna Shocklee of Nebo, KY and one brother, Ralph Phillips of Kattawa, KY and several nieces and nephews. \ Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 6th at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday and after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral Home. \ Memorial donations amy be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
