Calvin Howard Barnes Obituary (1927 - 2009)

Mr. Calvin Howard Barnes, 82, of Hanson, KY passed away at 7:05 P.M., Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ He was born May 9, 1927 in Hopkins Co., KY to the late Major Barnes and Eunie Hinton Barnes. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. \ Mr. Barnes was a self employed appliance technician. \ He was a member of Living Waters Church in Madisonville. \ He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Lou Barnes of Hanson; one son, Calvin Keith Barnes of Marion, KY; five daughters, Charlotte Scott of Cecilia, KY, Teresa Bowles of Mortons Gap, Cindy Plunkette of Madisonville, Lisa Nixon of Hanson and Holly Sherman of Dawson Springs; three sisters, Elizabeth Woodruff, Sue Alexander and Helen Fletcher all of Madisonville; two brothers, Carl Barnes of Sturgis, KY and Major E. Barnes of Hebron, IN; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. \ Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M, Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor David Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery in Madisonville. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday and after noon on Sunday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Kevin Rhye, Steven Hook, Tim Plunkette, J.R. Sherman, Larry Scott and Brian Craig. Honorary pallbearer will be Jay Nixon. \ Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
