Darrell Carder Nugent, 79, of Nebo, KY passed away, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Nugent was born on July 18, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late Claude Nugent, Sr. and Louise Carder Nugent. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Claude Nugent, Jr. and step-son, Jason Oakley. Darrell was a retired horse farm manager and was a United States Marines veteran. He had a passion for horse racing and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs play. He also loved animals. He was very outgoing and could talk to anyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Whitmer Nugent of Nebo; step-son Jeff (Kim) Oakley of Madisonville; three grandchildren, Jared, Jason, and Kara Oakley; and two great grandchildren. Services for the family were provided by Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
