Ercell Hampton Obituary (1926 - 2014)

\ Ercell Hampton, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away June 7, 2014 at The Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. \ He was born January 17, 1926 in Hopkins County, KY to the late William Arlie Hampton and Annie Rogers Hampton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joanna Jones Hampton, and one sister, Naomi Hollis. \ Mr. Hampton worked as an autoworker at General Motors. He was a member of Providence Rural United Methodist Church. He was a US Navy World War II veteran and a lifetime member of the NRA. He retired from General Motors in 1982. \ He is survived by two daughters, Gayle (Roger) Rowland of Columbia, TN and Cindy (Robert) Lang of Inkster, MI; one son, Terry W. (Shelia) Hampton of Woodhaven, MI; one brother, Wayne Hampton of Madisonville; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bryan Hampton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, and from 11:00 A.M. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home. \
