Genevieve Slaton Obituary (1925 - 2005)

Mrs. Genevieve Slaton, 80, of Madisonville, KY died at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at the Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home. \ Born August 28, 1925 in Hopkins County to the late James Henry McRoy and Lula Belle Berry McRoy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Demoss Slaton on March 13, 1997 and one granddaughter, Kristy Lee Slaton on May 31, 1988; and three sisters. \ She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a member and past president of the Earlington American Legion Post # 2 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. \ She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Anita Slaton of Nebo; one sister, Pauline Dame of Evansville, IN and one sister-in-law, Jane Dixon of Madisonville. \ Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard and Bro. Paul Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the Grapevine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Edmond M. Slaton, Elton Phillips, Bobby Vandiver, Randy Oakley, Barry Smiley and Wesley Steel. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Nix, Marian Morgan and Tommy Brown. \ Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the services at the funeral home. \ \
