Gerald \Bud\"" Francis Obituary (1939 - 2014)

\ Gerald 'Bud' Francis, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away June 3, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. \ \ He was born September 14, 1939 in Madisonville, KY to the late Charles Raymond Francis and Margaret Oglesby Francis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Ramage. \ \ Mr. Francis worked as a shop foreman at Peabody Coal Co from where he later retired. He was a member at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM, member of the Scottish Rite, and lifetime member of the VFW. Ham radios and golfing were his passions. \ \ He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynette Buell Francis of Madisonville; two daughters, Vickie (Troy) Melton of Madisonville, and Tracy (Phillip 'Rocky') Ashby of Danville, VA; one son, Jeff (Beth) Francis of Henderson, KY; three sisters, Delores (Richard) Martin of Madisonville, Rita (Dickie) Cates of Madisonville, and Joan (Mike) Cartwright of Madisonville; nine grandchildren; Lyndsey Marr, Joseph Pruden, Jonathon Ashby, Mackenzie Francis, Logan Francis, Phillip Ashby, Michael Ashby, Macallister Francis, Kipland Melton; and one great grandchild, Blaire Francis Marr. \ \ Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time Friday at the funeral home. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins County Humane Society.
