JB Phillips Obituary (1935 - 2015)

JB Phillips, 80, of Madisonville passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. Mr. Phillips was born April 9, 1935 in Lamasco, KY to the late James Phillips and Bertha Oliver Phillips. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Phillips and Robert Phillips and one sister, Jearldine Dyer. Mr. Phillips was United States Army Veteran. He was a retired Teamster where he was a truck driver and a School Bus Driver for Hopkins Co. Schools where he was school bus driver of the year in 1998-1999. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was also a Mason in the Madisonville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Whitfield Phillips of Madisonville; one daughter, Kim (Mike) Traylor of Princeton, KY; two sons, Jamie (Stacy O'Reilly) Napier of Indianapolis, IN, Paul (Caigen) Phillips of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Anna Pinnegar of Sterling Heights, MI and Lorriane (Don) Beverly of Hopkinsville, KY; and five grandchildren, Shelley Traylor of Memphis, TN, Zoe and Rhys Napier of Indianapolis, and Logan and Lucas Phillips of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Mr. B. Heath Harper and Bro. Duane Burden officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery where the Hopkins County Honor Guard will provide graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and 11:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tom Jones, Rick Pryor, Bill Hunt, Michael Hunt, Bob Phillips, and Greg Phillips. Memorial contributions can be made to Backpack Blessing c/o the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
