Jewell Lee King Obituary (1915 - 2008)

Mrs. Jewell Lee Joyner King, 92, of Madisonville, Kentucky was called home to Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 7:05 P.M. at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ She was born September 5, 1915 in Shakerag, Kentucky to the late William Bennett and Callie Lee Day Joyner. \ She was married to Ottie Burl King on June 10, 1933, until he died on March 29, 2001. They moved to Detroit, MI, in 1933 and he worked for Ford Motor Company until he retired and moved to Madisonville in 1978. They were charter and lifelong members of Maranatha Baptist Church. The church dedicated and named their new Fellowship Hall in the Kings honor for their faithfulness to their Lord and their church from the first service held on October 19, 1980. \ She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ottie Burl King, originally of Nebo, one son, James Carl King, two grandsons, James (Jamie) King and Danny King, three brothers, Bennett, Roy and Bracie Joyner; two sisters, Rea Joyner Walker (James) and Evelyn Joyner Brashear (Bill). \ She is survived by one sister, Geneva Thomas of Purcelville, VA, two grandsons, Mark (Marlene) King of Dearborn Heights, MI and Joseph (Joey) King of Denham, LA, one granddaughter, Carol Sanchez (Dan) of Dearborn Heights, MI; Eight great grandchildren, Jeff King, Corene King, Christina King, Bryan King, Shannon King, Allison King, Ashleigh Sanchez and Drake Sanchez, all of Michigan; three great great grandchildren, Skylar King, Jordon King and Gianna Jewell King, all of Michigan \ Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Van Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville. \ Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday and after 12:00, Noon on Saturday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Mark King, Bryan King, Dennis Spicer, David Lohse, Mike Burden and Bob Miller. \ Memorial donations may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
