Judith \Judy\"" King Moore Obituary (1948 - 2011)

Judith 'Judy' King Moore, age 63, of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her home on May 20, 2011 after fighting a private battle with breast cancer. \ \ Judy had three major passions in life; her family, her 30 plus years as an educator and her ardent love of riding horses. With an ever-optimistic voice she was committed to the community as a Leadership Hopkins County board member, Hopkins County Fair board member, Chamber of Commerce member where she was the 2002 volunteer of the year, Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission chairman, and Cardinal Garden Club member. \ \ Judy attended public school in Upton, KY and was a graduate of East Hardin High School in 1966. She graduated from Elizabethtown Community College with an A.A.S. degree in secretarial studies in 1968, Western Kentucky University with a B.S. degree in business education in 1970 and the University of Kentucky with a M.S. degree in vocational business education in 1971. Upon graduation, Judy was an instructor at Georgetown College until 1973 then worked at IBM Corporation as a marketing representative to educational institutions until 1978 when she moved to Madisonville, KY and began teaching at Madisonville Community College. During her tenure at Madisonville Community College, Judy was the Assistant to the President / Special Projects, a Professor of business technology and led the School Counts! program for Muhlenberg and Hopkins counties. \ \ Judy is survived by her mother Wilma Vance King of Madisonville, her two sons, Jim Moore and his wife Beth and their children Charlotte, Grace and William of Louisville, and Matt Moore, and his wife Sarah of Las Vegas, NV. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Robert P. Moore and her father Raymond King. \ \ The funeral will be at St. Marys Episcopal Church on Tuesday at 11 A.M. with burial following at Grapevine cemetery. Visitation services will be held on Monday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville. \ \ Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Judy Moore scholarship fund at Madisonville Community College, 2000 College Drive, Madisonville, KY 42431. \
