Katherine "Kate" Ellen Simpson Obituary (1957 - 2023)

Katherine (Kate) Ellen Simpson passed away in Lexington, KY on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Owensboro, KY in 1957 to L.W. and Doris Simpson, Kate's family moved to Madisonville when she was a young girl. She graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins and was the piano accompanist for the glee club. After graduating from Kentucky Wesleyan College, she moved to Evansville, Indiana where she lived most of her adult life, working as an auditor for the State of Indiana, then later retired as business manager for Willard Library. Kate lived a vibrant life in Evansville filled with friendship, music, literature, and many travels, especially to her beloved London and Surrey. She was a long-time member of the BB Chapter of the PEO Sisterhood, founding member of the YaYa Book Club, and a former member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. She was passionate about peace, social justice, and equality for all. Kate was a living example of sincerity, kindness, generosity, and love. She is survived by her sisters Sara Porter and Carol Davis (Bront) both of Lexington, KY, Anna Davis, niece, nephews Daniel, Joseph and Stephen Porter and Henry Davis, and countless dear friends. The family is indebted to Lala for her years of loving care. A graveside service will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, KY at 2:00 p.m. on October 29, 2023. A memorial service will be held in Evansville, IN at a later date.
