Ken Darrell Bivins Obituary (1941 - 2015)

Kenneth Darrell Bivins, age seventy-four and a resident of Madisonville, died Friday, July 17th. Ken, as he was called by friends and family, was born in Central City, Kentucky on March 21, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. and Marie Bivins. Ken graduated from University of Kentucky in 1963. Following graduation he joined his parents in business and became co-owner, manager and designer of the Exotic Florist. For many years he used his creative spirit in a local building contractor designing and repairing homes, businesses, and downtown loft apartments. His designs also extended to stained glass creations, pottery, cast paper and wood sculpture. Ken was an active member of Living Waters Church. Ken is survived by his wife, Pat Day Bivins of 27 years of marriage, and sister, Jan ( H.L.) Anderson of Greenville and sister-in-law Marjorie Day, Nephews Eric (Diana) Anderson of Greenville, Aaron (Maureen) Anderson of Franklin, TN, and Niece, Amy (Chad) Hadley of Greenville, Lisa Day Ramey, Hanson, a host of Great Nieces and Nephews in both the Anderson and Day families. A private service will be held and the family greatly appreciates the out-pouring of love shown by so many during Ken's illness.
