Larry Hight Putman Obituary (1948 - 2017)

Larry Hight Putman, 69, of White Plains, Ky died on December 18, 2017 surrounded by his family at home. He was born on February 12, 1948 in Madisonville, Ky to the late Aubrey and Maudie Putman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, JoNell Putman Foster. He worked as a coal miner for over forty years and held various roles including: foreman and Superintendent at Island Creek, Carbontronics, Gilbraltar, and Gibson County Coal. After retiring from the coal industry he and his wife built Putman Cattle Company, a thriving cattle farm. He enjoyed watching UK Basketball, Nascar racing, and loved spending time with family and his grandchildren. He was an active member, Elder, and Session Clerk at Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debbie Putman; three daughters, Christel (Darryl) Lanier of Louisville, KY, Candius (Daniel) Vandiver of Nortonville, KY, and Clarissa (Grady) Byard of Madisonville; one son, Micheal (Jamie) Putman of Greenville, KY; six grandchildren, Nick and Katie Vandiver, Paxton and Preslee Byard, Wesley and Levi Putman, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. John Shoulta officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in White Plains. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Darryl Lanier, Daniel Vandiver, Nick Vandiver, Grady Byard, Daryl Herring, and Jeff Cobb. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
