Nannie Deal Rodgers Obituary (1930 - 2017)

Nannie Deal Rodgers, 86 of Madisonville, KY entered Heaven's gates, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree, KY. She was born September 6, 1930 in Hopkins Co., KY to the late Garnett Solomon and Ola Fork Gamblin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, SP4 Thomas R. Devlin, KIA Vietnam 1966, grandson, James Andrew Davis, sister, Verdie E. Lantrip, and brothers, Morse Gamblin and Thurman "Bunk" Gamblin. Mrs. Rodgers was a loving mother and homemaker with an unwavering faith in God. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed peparing holiday meals. On her 17th birthday she married Lonnie W. Rodgers and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his death in 1991. She is survived by three children and spouses, Winfred (Jay) Rodgers of Madisonville, Judy (Dwight) Jordan of Beechmont, KY, and Velma (John) Davis of Madisonville; 13 grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Rodgers, Marty (Christy) Jordan, Heath Jordan, Jessica (Brad) Peyton, Allen (Libby) Davis, Matthew (Jennifer) Davis, Joshua (Amanda) Davis, Dr. Hanna Davis (Peter Nannery), Sarai (John) Hicks, Abram Davis, Michael (Stacey) Davis, Peter Davis, and Paul (Kelli) Davis; 24 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Lynn Groves and Bro. Daniel Vandiver officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nortonville, KY. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandson-in-laws. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
