Ollie Opal (Lutz) Bowdish Obituary (1921

A celebration of the life of Ollie Opal Bowdish, 88, will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, Kentucky, with Reverend Steve Stewart officiating. Inurnment will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson, Kentucky, at a later date. A gathering for family and friends for a time of fellowship will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. \ She died Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming. \ Ollie was born May 30, 1921, in Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky, the daughter of Thomas Aaron and Menema Alice (Harris) Lutz. She was reared and educated in Madisonville. On December 2, 1938, Ollie married Henry E. Frye; and, two daughters were born of this union. In the mid-60s she moved to Illinois and worked at Western Electric and then BRK Electronics in Aurora. Ollie married John Bowdish on August 20, 1971 in Illinois. Following his death in 1979, she returned to Madisonville to spend her retirement years. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a community volunteer while living in Madisonville. Ollie made a move to Wheatland in 2001 to be near her daughter, Patricia and family and was residing there at the time of her death. She was known for her handmade Barbie doll clothes and hand-pieced quilt tops as well as her vibrant personality and quick wit. \ Survivors include her two daughters, Patricia Francis of Wheatland and Joyce Frye of Franklin, Kentucky; two sisters, Helen Wise of Murphysboro, Tennessee and Uldine Wells of Madisonville; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. \ She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Cleroy Lutz, J.P. Lutz, Neva Jean Davis, and Marvene Weedman; and two husbands, Henry E. Frye and John Bowdish. \ Memorials to Platte County Ministry Co-op, P.O.
