Richard B. \Dick\"" Lee Sr. Obituary (1924 - 2008)

Mr. Richard B. Dick Lee Sr., 83, of Madisonville, KY, died at 3:20 P.M. Monday, February 4, 2008, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ He was born February 29, 1924 in Mortons Gap, KY to the late Gilbert and Lottie Josey Lee. \ He graduated from Mortons Gap High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville where he served as Worship Greeter and President of the Baraca Sunday School Class. He retired from Peabody Coal Company where he served as superintendent of several surface mines. He was past President of the Kentucky Mining Institute, past President of the Morning Kiwanis Club and member of all the Masonic Bodies. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, past Master of Lodge 143 and a member of the Rizpah Temple. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. \ He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nell Tyson Lee of Madisonville; a daughter, Karen (John) Browning of Greenville, KY; a son, Rick (Susanna) Lee of Madisonville; a sister, Martha (David) Richardson of Mortons Gap; five grandchildren, Carey (Jim) Dodds and Jennie (Michael) Knight of Madisonville, Whitney Browning of Nashville, TN and Nathan (Blair) Lee and Hays (Jessica) Browning of Lexington, KY. He also had seven great grandchildren: Drew, Jack and Sam Dodds, Lillie and Ella Knight and Palmer and Tucker Lee. \ Funeral services will be Friday, February 8, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Madisonville with Rev. Jim McMurtrie officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. \ Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Baraca Sunday School Class. \ Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Friday at the church. \ Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimers Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
