Shelby Clay Davis Jr. Obituary (1924 - 2007)

Mr. Shelby C. Davis, 82, of Madisonville, KY died at 12:35 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center. \ Born December 26, 1924 in Hickman, KY he was the son of the late Shelby Clay Davis Sr. and Mary Belle Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lee Grizzell Davis on February 29, 2000 and one sister, Betty Ann Hoffman. \ He retired after 36 years as Western Kentucky counties Regional Manager for Southern States Co-Operative and was a WW II Army Veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class. He was also a Mason. \ He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ann Davis of Madisonville, Sandra Davis Wardell of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Mary Belle Palmer of Lexington, KY and one grandson, Alan Clay Wardell. \ Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the services. \ Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the National Diabetes Foundation or the United Methodist Home for Children and Youth.
