William E. \Bill\"" Vaughan Obituary (1929 - 2009)

Mr. William Earl Bill Vaughan, 79, of Madisonville, KY, passed away at 2:10 P.M. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center. \ He was born December 11, 1929, in Dresden, TN to the late John Earl and Elizabeth Staples Vaughan. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Vaughan. \ Mr. Vaughan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was the youngest Western Kentucky Parkway Construction Superintendent employed on the project and supervised the construction of the Princeton Interchange. He worked in the construction and mining industries for 70 years where he was instrumental in starting Cimarron Coal and the Volunteer Mine that he named after UT. He was a Past President of the Morning Kiwanis Club of Madisonville where he served for 34 years with perfect attendance. He was also a past Kiwanis District Lt. Governor. He was a 1953 graduate of the University of Tennessee and an avid UT fan. He founded Vaughan Engineering in 1975. \ He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna Bates Vaughan of Madisonville; one daughter, Cathy Vaughan of Madisonville; one son, Scott Vaughan, a daughter in-law, Donna Vaughan of Madisonville and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Rachel Vaughan both of Madisonville. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2009, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard and Rev. Jim McMurtrie officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday and after 9:30 A.M. Friday until the service time at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Mike Anthony, Greg Bates, Mark Bates, Danny Byrum, Ronnie Noel, and Dick Peyton. \ Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church Adult 5 Seekers Sunday School Class. \ Memorial donations may be made to the Carol Vaughan Memorial Scholarship fund in care of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
