Arvel A. Hobgood

Mr. Arvel A. Hobgood, 93, of Madisonville, KY, died Tuesday, June 14, 2006, at 8:55 A.M., at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ Born June 17, 1912, in Webster County, KY, he was the son of the late John G. Hobgood and Willie Hester Hobgood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emmalene Kington Hobgood on September 18, 1995; a sister, Eva Hobgood, and three brothers, Rev. Rollan Hobgood, Elvy Hobgood, and Opal C. Hobgood. \ Mr. Hobgood was a retired farmer and a longtime member and former elder of Nebo Christian Church. He had been a resident at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home for nine years. \ He is survived by a daughter, Martine Lansden of Owensboro, KY; two sons, Morris W. Hobgood of Madisonville and John Bill Hobgood of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Ima V. Jackson of Indianapolis, IN, and Hester Kington of Madisonville; nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 3:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bros. Howard W. Crowe and Ted Morelock officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Nebo, KY. \ Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Lisa Ryan, Lanny W. Lansden, Lonnie R. Lansden, Dirk D. Hobgood, Kevin Hobgood, Jason Hobgood and Brad Hobgood. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to the Nebo Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
