Austin Brock Thompson

Austin Thompson, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away Friday, March 4 2016 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Mr. Thompson was born October 3, 1927 in Altoona, AL to the late James Luther Thompson and Stella Tessner Thompson. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Westby, one son, David Thompson, and one brother.
Austin was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Madisonville. He retired from Island Creek Coal Company. He loved UK basketball and watching sports on TV.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Crook Thompson of Madisonville; one daughter, Karynn Lail of Madisonville; three grandchildren, Corey Keith, Kevin Westby, and Elizabeth Harboldt; three step-daughters, Delilah Falk of Madisonville, Ava Whitman of Houston, TX, and Martha Clark of Madisonville; on step-son, Stanley Gamblin of Hanson, KY; nine step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Tondra Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday and from 12:00 P.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Gamblin, Brandon Keith, Brock Keith, Kevin Westby, Scott Falk, and Adam Whitman.
