Carrel Rae Nielson Obituary (1955 - 2023)

Carrel Rae Nielson, 67, of Madisonville, Kentucky, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was born March 28, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, IA to the late Clair Caldwell and Lurel Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Albert Rammelsberg and Clair Caldwell, Jr. Carrel was a huge Denver Broncos fan and also enjoyed NASCAR, crafts, and puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Hagerman, Lexi Nielson, and Sonia Jones of AL; sons, Shane McVay of Des Moines, IA, and Jermy Campbell of Walford, IA; sisters, Patty Blackwell of Cedar Rapids, Becky Caldwell of Cedar Rapids, Renae Heck of Marion, IA, Maryann Hecks of Cedar Rapids, and Dottie Henry of Kansas; brother, Butch Rammelsburg of Keota, IA; Bobby Caldwell of Cedar Rapids, and Chris Caldwell of Cedar Rapids; along with 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cedar Rapids. Services for the family were provided by Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barnett-Strother at 2285 North Main St, Madisonville, KY 42431.
