Charles Leo Franklin

\ Charles Leo Franklin, 78, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville. \ \ He was born February 18, 1934 in Hopkins Co., KY to the late William Gilbert Franklin and Rela Martin Franklin. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Franklin Jr., one sister, Jane Hibbs and a great granddaughter, Carleigh Gamblin. \ \ Mr. Franklin was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a former member of the VFW and the American Legion and was an avid UK fan. \ \ He was survived by his wife, Laura Evelyn Mann Franklin, one daughter, Debbie (Bill) Mitchell of Sturgis, KY; four sons, Randy (Jackie) Franklin, Mark (Darlene) Franklin, Jeff Franklin, and John Franklin, all of Madisonville; one sister, Ida Fox of Beulah, KY; one brother, Jack Franklin of Hanson, KY; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. \ \ Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Haley and Rev. William Coursey officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY. \ \ Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday and after 11:00 A.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be Brian Mitchell, Seth Franklin, Timmy Franklin, Jacob (Franklin) Galvan, Mitchell Gamblin, and Mike Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Fox, David Hibbs, Brad Gamblin, and Brad Franklin. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
