Madisonville, Kentucky
Danny Franklin Clayton, 78, of Manitou, Kentucky, went to be with his eternal Father on December 22, 2024. Born to the late Buford and Betty Jane Clayton of Manitou, Dan lived a life defined by faith, integrity, and devotion to his family.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy Clayton of Manitou and Jerry Clayton of Madisonville; and his nephew, Jeremy Clayton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Betty Ferrell Clayton; his daughter, Susanne Clayton; his granddaughter, Ashley Olafsen (Brian); his grandson, Jordan Clayton (Rayne); and five great-grandchildren, including four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He also leaves behind two stepchildren whom he loved as his own, Chris Campbell (Jennifer) and Christy Combs (Kevin); one sister, Donna Brown (Danny); and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a man of great dignity, honor, and hard-working values. Known for his wisdom and strong faith, he was the one people turned to for Godly advice or for help fixing something—because if Dan did it, he did it right. He took pride in striving to be the best man he could be and worked hard to instill those values in his family. Dan also enjoyed playing the guitar, a pastime that brought him peace and joy.
Dan dedicated many years of his career to Charolais Co. Company and later as a superintendent for Armstrong Coal Company. He was deeply proud to have recently received his 50-year Masonic pin from Lodge #143, a testament to his enduring commitment and service. Dan was also a faithful member of Park View Community Church, where his faith flourished and where he served with humility and grace.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday December 27, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until the service time. The Funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday December 27, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with by J.W. Durst and Cecil Warrick officiating. Burial to follow at Concord Manitou Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Day, Scotty Brown, Joey Clayton, Kevin Combs, David Weir, and Max Clayton.
As we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the Word of God:
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.” (Matthew 25:23)
Dan’s legacy of love, hard-working values, faith, and dedication will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
