Dewey Ernest Grant, Jr. Obituary (1929 - 2010)

Mr. Dewey Ernest Grant, Jr., 80, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 1:25 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at his residence. \ He was born May 9, 1929 in Earlington, KY to the late Dewey Ernest Grant, Sr. and Eula Cothran Grant. He was also preceded in death by one son, Dr. Neal Grant and one brother, David Grant. \ Mr. Grant was a retired supervisor at the Kentucky Utilities Power Plant, member of the First Christian Church of Madisonville, an Army Veteran that served in the Korean Conflict as well as a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. \ He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Grant of Madisonville; one daughter, Cathy (Jonathan) Bretz of Madisonville; one son, Glenn (Barbara) Grant of Evansville; two sisters, Dorothy Nell Thorpe of LaBelle, FL and Ruth Grigsby of Evansville; four grandchildren, Casey and Brian Grant, Grant (Emily) and Matthew Strader; one great granddaughter, Gracie Strader. \ Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Hopkins County Honor Guard will perform a Military graveside service. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and after Noon on Thursday at the funeral home. \ Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to the Mahr Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
