Dorleen Maxine West Obituary (1927 - 2016)

Dorleen Maxine West, 89, of Madisonville, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville. Mrs. West was born July 16, 1927 in Selvin, IN to the late Joseph Arthur and Alice Belle Spradlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward West, Sr. She was a lifelong member of Selvin United Methodist Church. She attended Providence Rural United Methodist Church after moving to Kentucky in 1955. She loved God, her family, and so many special people who touched her life through the years. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She worked for Western Union Telegraph during World War II and retired from G.E. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Gary) Bowles; five sons, Charles 'Buddy' West, Jr., Brent (Dru) West, Brian (Kathy) West, Bruce West, and Bryce (Barbie) West; nine grandchildren. Greg (Dana), Tracy (Mitch) Matt, Luke (Lindsey), Laura (Ron), Shawn, Kaleb (Morgan), Madison, Nathan, and Ruby; 10 great grandchildren, Kati, Parker, Emma, Elly, Lathe, Layne, Letty, Charley, Bennett, and Max. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Annabelle Spradlin. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Matt West and Rev. J.W. Durst officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday and from 8:00 A.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Buddy West, Brent West, Brian West, Bruce West, Bryce West, and Gary Bowles.
