Elizabeth Gibson

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betsy) Troop Gibson, 84 of Madisonville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Deaconess/Baptist Hospital. She was born March 28, 1940, to the late Bonnie Rea Troop and Earl Troop. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Lee Donan and her sister, June Rice.
Betsy loved the Lord with all her heart. She would watch her favorite pastors on TV each day. She dearly loved her family and friends. She had a passion for gardening and making her home surroundings beautiful and welcoming for all those she met.
She loved selling real estate and was a Realtor since 1971.
The following handwritten note was found in Betsy's papers the day she passed. We, the family, want to share it with you.
After Glow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth O. Gibson, Sr. of 31 years, her daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Fabel of Nashville, TN and her son, David (Bess) Donan of Louisville, KY; 4 stepchildren Kenneth "Kenny" (Laura) Gibson of Bowling Green, Laura (Carlo) Canapa of Pensacola, FL, Ed (Jenny) Gibson of Lexington, KY, Emily (Jon) Armstrong of Knoxville, TN; along with 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
She dearly loved and was loved by all who were blessed to have known her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
