Ernest Eugene Champion

Ernest "Champ" Eugene Champion, 80, of Madisonville, KY passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Champion was born August 21, 1935 in Gaston County, NC, to the late Fred Champion and Lalar Bradley Champion.
Ernest was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of N.H. Shaw #608 F&AM. He worked as a foreman for the Hopkins County Road Department. He enjoyed golf, baking, and volunteered at church.
He is survived by wife, Carolyn Webb Champion; one son, Shannon (Anastasia) Champion of Newburgh,IN; two sisters, Evelyn Champion Gastonia, NC and Joy Lorene (Johnny) Cain Kings Mountain, NC ; and one brother, Perry Joedean (Phyllis) Champion of Myrtle Beach, SC and one grandson, Evan Champion of Newburgh, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 15, 2016 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Len Young and Rev. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial will be follow at Concord Cemetery in White Plains, KY.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 12:00 P.M. until the service time Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Champion, Danny Fireline, Joe Holland, Steve Boheler, Bill Clark, and Kyle Bearden. Honorary pallbearer will be Evan Champion.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to the Awana Bible School at Park Avenue Baptist Church. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
