Evelyn Hamman Smith Tippen

Evelyn Hamman Smith Tippen passed away peacefully December 14, 2016 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born June 19, 1921 in Jonesboro, AR to the late Mary Leona and Homer Hamman.
She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1939. Soon after onset of World War 2, she joined her older sister in Washington DC as they began secretarial careers at the General Accounting Office. Evelyn gradually advanced to executive secretary to the Director of Investigations. After retirement, she and her husband lived in Myrtle Beach, SC, Charlottesville, VA, and Jonesboro, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clyn T. Smith, and her husband of 15 years, James Tipper, her sister, Genevieve Jones and brother, Robert M. Hamman.
She is survived by her remaining brother, Dr. J.L. Hamman (Beverly) and nieces and nephews.
We wish to express our sincere appreciation to her personal caregivers, the management and staff at the Paragon of Madisonville and Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
