Gerald Richard Ray

Mr. Gerald Richard Ray, 83, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of Meade County, KY, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at 3:45 P.M. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ He was born March 26, 1926 in Rock Haven, KY, to the late Gerald Anthony and Hallie Mary Yates Ray. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille M. Whelan Ray in 2007, five brothers, three sisters, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter. \ He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and worked for Texas Gas for 36 years. He was a WW II US Army Veteran. \ Mr. Ray is survived by six daughters, Elaine Hunter and Jeanette (Jerry) Seats of Madisonville, Phyllis (John Deig) Winstead and Mary (Jerry) Browder of Sacramento, KY, Anita Ray of Madisonville, and Cheryl (Henry) Ray-Estrada of Albuquerque, NM; seven sons, Thomas Ray, James (Debbie) Ray, Steven (Donna) Ray and Michael Ray of Madisonville, Gerald A. Ray and Kenny Ray of Manitou, KY, and Joseph Ray of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Wilma Whelan of Vine Grove, KY; twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in St. Martin Church Cemetery in Meade County, KY. \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with prayer services at 7:00 P.M. Visitation on Wednesday will be from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Tommy Ray, Mike Ray, Daniel Ray, Ross Seats, Nathan Watson and Derek Browder. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Watson, Steven Hoagland and Jared Ray. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to Christ The King Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
