Helen M Grothem

\ Helen M. Grothem, 75, of Madisonville, KY passed away, September 11, 2014. \ She was born September 15, 1938 in Warren, MN to the late Marvin Bystol and Hilda Evavold Bystol. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Lawson. \ Mrs. Grothem was a member of Messenger of Life Church. She was an Occupational Therapy instructor at KCTCS. She taught quilting and loved to bowl. She sewed and made the costumes for the performances at the Glema Mahr Center. \ She is survived by one son, Fred (Melissa) Grothem of Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Stacy (David) Poli of Eau Claire, WI; one sister, Sanda (David) Kilde of North Carolina; two brothers, Dr. Norman (Joan) Bystol of Arizona and Curt (Sharron) Bystol of Minnesota; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. \ Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Childs officiating. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery. \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home. \ Memorials donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
