Helen Estelle Phaup Hicklin, 87, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ \ She was born September 19, 1926 in Grapevine, KY to the late Rev. Ellis Phaup and Mary Fosco Phaup. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Frank Phaup and one sister, Grace Hale. \ \ Mrs. Hicklin was a member of the First Christian Church in Madisonville. She was a Legal Secretary and Court Reporter., a charter member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #6 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved listening to music, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. \ \ She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Mike) King of Madisonville; two sons, Raymond T. (Ruby) Hicklin and Melvin D. (Joy) Hicklin both of Madisonville; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. \ \ Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be private. \ \ Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Madisonville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
