Henry W. Brooks Jr. Obituary (1920 - 2007)

Mr. Henry W. Brooks Jr., 87, of Madisonville, KY died at 11:30 A.M. August 13, 2007 at Regional Medical Center, Madisonville, KY. \ Born May 26, 1920 in Hopkins County to the late Henry W. Brooks Sr. and Mary Lucille Hatler Brooks. He was also proceeded in death by two brothers, Carl Raymond Brooks and Turner Ray Brooks; and a daughter, Shirley Howell. \ Mr. Brooks was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlington, KY and the U.S. Army. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a mechanic in the coal mines for Island Creek Coal Company for 36 years. \ Surviving are his wife, Louise Dame Brooks of Madisonville; one daughter, Debbie Renfrow of Madisonville; two sons, Timothy Brooks and Robert Brooks, both of Madisonville; two sisters, Ruth Patterson of Madisonville and Helen Nance of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 15, 2007, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. David Simpson and Bro. Bobbie Sellers. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post # 5480, American Legion Post # 6 and Earlington American Legion Post # 2. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 12:00 P.M. Wednesday until the service time. \ Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to charity of ones choice. \
