Hugh David "Bud" Ashby

Hugh David 'Bud' Ashby, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was born August 13, 1926 to the late Benjamin and Nettie V. Ashby in Vandetta, KY.
He retired from Island Creek Coal Company in 1986, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. He was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ida Simms Ashby; his son, Clark D. Ashby and his wife, Karen L. Ashby of Hanson, KY; grandson, Cory D. Ashby of Manitou Springs, CO; granddaughters, Kristin Nivia and her husband, Carlos Nivia of Bogota, Colombia, and Amber L. Faris and her husband, Kevin Faris of Lexington, KY; and two great-grandchildren, Harper Lee and Rhett William Faris all of Lexington.
A private graveside service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Tom Branson officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Cory Ashby, Jim Love, Kevin Faris, Carlos Nivia, Dennis Jessup, and Ches Riddle, Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Judes Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
