Tim Young Obituary (1948 - 2015)

Tim Young, 66, of Madisonville, KY went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at his residence in Madisonville. He was born on October 12, 1948 in Madisonville to the late James David Young and Ramona Bedwell Young. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ron Whitfield. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Young; two daughters, Marina (Rob) McCay of Madisonville and Amy Young of Georgetown, KY; one son, Tim (Chrystal) Young of Lawrenceville, GA; two brothers, Greg Young of Evansville, IN and Tony (Ella) Young of El Dorado, IL; one sister, Lori (Ron) Gamblin of Elizabethtown, KY; and five grandchildren, Steven Puckett, Jordan McCay, Keana Young, Maddie McCay, and Jon McCay. Mr. Young worked at CSX for 35 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Madisonville. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved playing golf and fishing. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, serving from '68-'74. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Jim McMurtrie officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Dennis Lutz, Dennis Mitchell, James Traylor, Steve Clements, Marvin Hendricks, David Cook, Ron Gamblin, and Steven Puckett. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Frederick and Kenneth Kimble. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick Rudd Project. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
