John C. Burden

\ Rev. John C. Burden resident of V.A. Center of Hanson, age 91 went to be with his Lord on January 31, 2013. \ \ He was preceded in death by his parents Isiah and Dellar Ann Burden, two sisters, four brothers, and one son. \ \ Rev. Burden is survived by his wife, Ethel Marie Burden of 66 years; two daughters, Sherrill Burden (Hooper), Claudia Burden (Green) both of Madisonville; one son, Paul (Sandra) Burden of Jacksonville, FL; one grandson, Aaron Hooper of Madisonville; one great granddaughter, Kendal Hooper of Nortonville; and one brother, William Ray Burden of Madisonville. \ \ Brother Burden was a retired Southern Baptist minister of 52 years. Over the years John pastored several churches in Muhlenberg, Webster, and Hopkins Counties as well as being a veteran of WWII and a retired coal miner. \ \ Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. February 3, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Tondra Daughtery of Liberty Baptist Church, where John was a long time member. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, and after noon until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be Paul Burden, Aaron Hooper, James Allen Burden, Ronnie Burden, Jamie Burden, Mac Wells, Andy Downey, and John David Betts. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Center Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
