JoNell Mitchell Obituary (1928 - 2024)

JoNell Mitchell, 95 of Madisonville, KY passed away Monday May 13, 2024, at Ridgewood Terrance in Madisonville. She was born November 9, 1928 in Madisonville to the late Virgil Vaughan Sr. and Mamie Jane Vandiver Vaughan. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Sory Barron, and her second husband, Eugene Mitchell; two sons, James Michael Barron, and Stephen Lee Barron; a brother, Virgil Vaughan Jr., two stepdaughters, Phyllis Stone, and Linda Reeves; and a stepson, Louis Mitchell. JoNell was a member of Nebo Christian Church of Nebo, KY. She also was a proud member of the Eastern Star organization. She retired as a Lab Tech for Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville, KY after 25 years. She is survived by her son, Terry J and Tammy Barron of Madisonville; her daughter, LaLena Utley of Nebo, KY; a stepdaughter, Sharon Spriggs of Madisonville; a brother, Lonnie Vaughan of Dawson Springs, KY; a sister, Janie Vaughan of South Carolina, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday May 16th, 2024 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home Madisonville Chapel with Bro. Tondra Daughtery officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
