The Rev. Larry Lee McWilliams

\ Rev. Dr. Larry Lee McWilliams, 70 of Earlington, KY passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his residence in Earlington. \ \ He was born October 13, 1941 in Shelbina, MO to the late Dale McWilliams and Georgia Woods McWilliams. \ \ Dr. McWilliams received his graduate degree in religion from Lincoln Christian College. He received his Dr. of Divinity from Vanderbilt University School of Divinity. He served Disciples of Christ churches in both Tennessee and Kentucky. \ \ Larry was an instructor for many years at Madisonville Community College, where he taught courses in Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics. \ \ After retiring from a successful career with Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company, Larry turned his attention to serving his community. He served as Commissioner for the City of Earlington on the Hopkins County Planning Commission. \ \ He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita Rodgers McWilliams, daughter Marti (Jack) Whitford of Lexington, KY, son Eric (Angela) McWilliams, and grandson Alistair McWilliams of Nashville, TN. \ \ Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at First Christian Church with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville, KY. \ \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church. \ \ Pallbearers will be Ricky Conyers, Phil Hunt, Jack Whitford, Chad Roberts, Tim Thomas, and Barry Vaughn. \ \ In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the building fund at First Christian Church or Habitat for Humanity. \ \
