Mabel Qualls Clark

Mrs. Mabel Qualls Clark, 83, of Madisonville, KY, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 1:52 P.M., at the Regional Medical Center. \ Born January 3, 1921 in Hopkins County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Lonnie Qualls and Lovella Isabelle Campbell Qualls. \ She worked for 15 years at Wal-Mart as a clerk and was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Madisonville. She received national recognition as a poet having received the Golden Poet Award in 1988 and the Silver Poet Award in 1990 and was a published song writer. \ She is survived by two sons, Michael Clark of Hanson, KY and Robert Clark of Madisonville; one step-son, Morris L. Clark of Orwinsburg, PA; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. \ Funeral services will be Sunday, February 22, 2004, at 3:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY. \ Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2004, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and after Noon on Sunday. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to the charity of your choice. \
