Marilyn spent her life as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid UK basketball fan, a die-hard Democrat, and loved the game of golf. She loved to sew, cook, and bake for her family and spent countless hours with her granddaughters. She was also a collector of antiques, Charles Schultz, and Raggedy Ann & Andy memorabilia.
She is survived by three children, Doug (Angela) Wolfe, Susan (Barry) Smiley, Nancy (Paul) Camplin, two granddaughters, Laura (Brad) Long, and Sara (Zack) Kenady, one grandson, Ed (Sarah) Smiley, and six great-grandchildren, Tenlee and Grayson Long, Deacon and Miller Kenady, Kathryn and Mason Smiley, along with sister, Patricia (Stanley) Abrams, and three nieces, Sandy Guiton, Karen Myers, Mary Griggs, and nephews, Tim Ridgway and Roger and Michael Abrams.
Arrangements are being handled by Barnett Strother Funeral Home; however, at her request there will be no formal service, but rather a family graveside service in Sullivan Co., Indiana, in the weeks to come. The family will be forever grateful for the love and care provided by the staff of Oak Ridge Assisted Living, who became family to all of us. Your love and support did not go unnoticed.
Marilyn and Fred were forever grateful to be blessed with healthy granddaughters and great-grandchildren, making them lifelong supporters of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude at stjude.org. Envelopes are also available at Barnett Strother Funeral Home.
