Madisonville, KY
Mary Helen Stuart, 88, a resident of Madisonville for the past 62 years, died Monday (May 24) at Ridgewood Terrace, which had provided her with professional care since February. \ Mrs. Stuart, the widow of former Municipal Light Superintendent Keithern Buck Stuart, enjoyed working in the yard of her home and watching Park Avenue traffic, often commenting on how much it had increased since she moved there in 1975. \ In August 2008, declining health forced her to give up her home for the help provided by the professional staff at Oak Ridge Assisted Living Facility. \ While a homemaker raising four children, Mrs. Stuart was also employed at the F.W. Woolworth Store and Dixie Cream Donut Shop in Madisonville. She was a 1939 graduate of Earlington High School and a member of Earlington Methodist Church, who faithfully attended Park Avenue Baptist Church. \ In addition to her husband of 28 years who passed away on Nov. 11, 1968, she was preceded in death by her parents, Paul C. Curtis and Viola Curtis Masoncup; and her half-sister, Dorothy Wicks. \ She is survived by three sons, Ronnie of Clearwater, FL; Mike of Troy, TN; and Tony (Jenni) of Madisonville; and a daughter, Kay (Johnny) Boswell of Madisonville; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Stuart of Raleigh, NC; Johnna (David) Brown, Cayce (Nick) Duvall and Brianna Stuart, all of Madisonville; Jason (Sherry) Stuart of Dawson Springs; Summer (Jason) Wisdom and Sam Stuart of Troy, TN; seven great-grandchildren: Braydee, Morgan and Ella Brown of Madisonville; Brodie and Katie Wisdom of Troy, TN; Ethan and Kristen Stuart of Dawson Springs; two half-sisters, Norma Townsell of Madisonville and Georgia (Jim) Gordon of Mortons Gap; a step-sister, Mary Gipson of Hanson; sister-in-law, Nell Stuart of Madisonville, several nieces and nephews. \ Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnett Strother Funeral Home, and funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Friday will be officiated by the Rev. Doug Anderson, assisted by the Rev. David Brown. Pall bearers will be Jason, Bill, Alan (Chip), Sam and Darrel Stuart and Nick Duvall. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. \ In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Park Avenue Baptist Church, 132 Park Ave. \
