Michael Dwaine Crowe

–

Manitou, KY

Michael Dwaine Crowe passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 25th at 8:12pm. He was born September 6th, 1941 to the late Gwen Hart Crowe and Sarah Oldham Crowe. He was a graduate of Madisonville High School and Western Kentucky University, where he completed his bachelors, master's, and rank I. He retired from the Hopkins County School System after teaching subjects in science and math for over 34 years at West Hopkins High School, Hopkins County Central, and Madisonville Community College.
"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." Throughout his life, Michael cared little about credit and often shied away from the spotlight; opting instead to focus on the transference and advancement of knowledge. He was always happy to assist those willing to put forth the effort to learn and often tutored people from all walks of life. He furthered his love of educating individuals outside the classroom by coaching baseball, golf, and tennis over his teaching career. He was not meant for the sidelines and loved competing. He excelled in baseball, golf and tennis; even playing as Western Kentucky University's fifth-seed on the tennis team his junior year, only to give it up his senior year to focus on his studies. He was a sportsman in every sense and when not in the classroom could be found among nature where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He held strong ties to the local community and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs and attended services at First Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Darrell Crowe. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loretta Wilkerson Crowe of Manitou and one son Brian Dwaine Crowe of Washington, DC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
We wish to thank Baptist Home Health for employing exceptional staff and experienced first-hand the wonderful care Michael received from the nurses Michelle, Lorna and Dale the last few weeks of his life.
