Mildred Dorcas Genton

Mildred Dorcas Genton, 85, of Madisonville, KY died November 11, 2008 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was born September 20, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the Late Albert and Lena Schepers. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marguerite Radseek and her brother, Sidney Schepers. \ She graduated in 1941 from Lake City High School in Lake City, Michigan. She attended Calvin College Grand Rapids, Michigan for her pre-nursing then entered and graduated from Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She served as a First Lieutenant, Army Nurse Corps, 250th General Hospital PJGH, Battlecreek, Michigan from July 25, 1945 to June 27, 1947. \ She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Frankfort, KY where she belonged to the Variety Circle. She was also active in the American Red Cross Blood Drives, Homemakers Club, and Welcome Wagon. She enjoyed ceramics, china painting, and playing the piano. \ She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Maurice Genton of Madisonville, a son and daughter in-law, Dr. Jerry and Sue Genton of Madisonville, granddaughters Julie (Dr. Steve) Sampson of Madisonville and Beth Genton Pharm D. of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by three great grandchildren Kate, Will, and Anna Sampson of Madisonville, a brother, Earl Schepers of Cadillac, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. \ Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday November 13, 2008 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. \ Funeral Services will be graveside at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY with Pastor Richard Cheever officiating. \ Memorial donations may be made to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation or the USO. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
