Norman Lee Young Obituary (1925 - 2016)

Norman Lee Young, 91, of Madisonville, KY passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. Mr. Young was born January 2, 1925 in Caldwell County, KY, to the late Gilbert Lee Young and Lovie Ann French. Norman was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He retired from General Machine after 40 years of service. He was a past secretary and president of the Madisonville Rotary Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He learned to play golf after he retired. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Young; one daughter, Laura (David) Hager of Henderson, KY; one son, David (Tina) Young of Wind Ridge, PA; five grandchildren, Marc Hager, Danny (Misty) Hager, Kody Young, Brittany Pate, and Chase Laffoon; and five great grandchildren, Eli Hager, Tabitha Hager, Toby Stevens, Madison Pate, and Alivia Pate. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Marc Hager, Danny Hager, Chase Laffoon, Kody Young, Brittany Pate and Grant Pate.
