Ozelia H. Cartwright Obituary (1908 - 2005)

Mrs. Ozelia H. Cartwright, 97, of Madisonville, KY died at 10:00 P.M., Thursday, October 6, 2005 at her home. \ Born January 31, 1908 in Olney, KY she was the daughter of the late Riley Auther Howton and Armenty Purdy Howton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Uria Louis Cartwright on July 8, 2003; two sisters, Ruth Harris and Jessye Cartwright; one brother, John Henry Howton and two grandsons, Keenan Forbes II on Feb. 22, 2002 and Aaron Kent Bradley on September 25, 2003 \ She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Grapevine Baptist Church where she taught the Mary Helen Sunday School Class for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was a U.M.W.A. associate member; a life member of the Hopkins County Historical Society and a member of the Dawson Springs Museum and Art Center. \ She is survived by two daughters, Joann Lovan of Reidland, KY and Peggy Dean Forbes of Madisonville; three sons, Bremen Matthew Cartwright of Madisonville, Billy R. Cartwright of Madisonville, KY, Bobby Allen Cartwright of Tifton, GA; one sister, Azalea Rhea Howton of Dawson Springs; one brother, Alfred Leon Howton of Madisonville; twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the Grapevine Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gifford. Burial will follow in the Grapevine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Larry Cartwright, Dale Cartwright, Keith Cartwright, Kevin Cartwright, Mark Lovan , Kent Cartwright and Gary Lovan. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and on Sunday from after 1:00 P.M. until the service at the church. \ Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Grapevine Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
