Paul Bergman

Paul E. Bergman, Sr., 79, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Loyall, KY, on February 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Cawood Bergman and Margaret Pittman Bergman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Scott and Gwen Elam.

Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University and began his career as a schoolteacher, primarily teaching mathematics. He later transitioned into the construction industry, where he spent most of his professional life as a contractor working in mining, commercial, and residential construction.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Gwen Bergman of Madisonville; two sons, P.J. (Patti) Bergman of Madisonville and Billy Bergman (Leigh Ann) of Hanson; granddaughter, Olivia Bergman; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Williams and Maddie Bergman; his brother, Ronnie (Robyn) Bergman of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately for the family, and burial will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins County Humane Society or Christ the King School scholarship fund.
