Ralph Taylor

Ralph R. Taylor, 89, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was born July 24, 1935, in Louisville, KY to the late E.O. “Rex” Taylor and Bess Leet Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Morris Taylor, and his brother, W. Clay Taylor.
Ralph attended Owensboro High School and graduated in the class of ’54 where he was the president of the student body. He attended the University of Kentucky and received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, where he was in the Tau Beta Pi Engineer Honor Society. His first engineering job was with Convair Engineering in Ft. Worth, TX. While in Fort Worth, Ralph attended SMU graduate school. He returned to the University of Kentucky and received a Master’s degree in engineering in 1962. After working in research in Lexington, he began working in Madisonville at the Kentucky Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1988. He married Peggy Morris on May 22, 1971.
He is survived by a daughter, Tracey (Michael) McCay of Bowling Green, KY; two sons, Clay (Sarah) Taylor of Louisville, KY and David (Nicole) Taylor of Madisonville; and six grandchildren, Kylee Taylor, Eva McCay, Rex Taylor, Clara Taylor, Brody Taylor and Hudson Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. March 21, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Len Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro, KY.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
