Roddy Jessup

Roddy “Rod” Leon Jessup, age 78, of Madisonville, KY, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on March 16, 1948, in Muhlenburg County, KY, Rod was the child of the late Thurman David and Murnie Ellen Napier Jessup.
A lifelong resident of the area, Rod graduated from Murray State University and then had a brief stint of teaching at Providence High School. He later worked in the coal mines at Island Creek and then Pyro and then went into business with his best friend Tony Farris at Farris Construction. Rod also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with family.
Rod is survived by his wife, Janetta Sullenger Jessup; children, Jayson (Tina) Jessup and Michelle (Jeff) Lineberry; grandchildren Lindsey (Sara), Rainee, and Autumn Jessup and Conner and Caleb Lineberry; great-grandchildren Lauren and Rhett Jessup, Lextyn Strunk, and Avalyn Rodgers; brother David (Brenda) Jessup; niece Heather (Eric) Canler; and great-nephew Blayne Taliaferro. Rod is also survived by his beloved Shih Tzu Maggie who was his loyal companion and always by his side.
