Roy D. Hibbs

Mr. Roy D. Hibbs, 91, of Madisonville, KY died at 5:31 P.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center. \ Born February 2, 1915 in McCracken County, KY he was the son of the late William Talford Hibbs and Burlie Manley Hibbs. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Hawkins Hibbs in 1979, two stepsons, James Travis Hibbs and Gerald Eugene Hibbs and one brother, Nathan F. Doll Hibbs and one sister, Corine Burden. \ He was a retired truck driver for the City of Madisonville and attended Park Ave. Baptist Church where he was a member of the Son Shiners Group. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Club and was a WW II Army veteran. \ He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Frances Gehring Hibbs of Madisonville; one stepdaughter, Mary Jo Gill of Clarksville, IN; one stepson, David Michael Gehring of Madisonville; one sister, W. Estelle Dawes of Paducah, KY; one brother, Hugh Francis Hibbs of Sharp, KY; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 5480 and American Legion Post 6. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral at Barnett-Strother. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to the Park Ave. Baptist Church Building Fund. \
