Roy Holt

Roy Lee Holt, age 96 peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1st, 2018 at his home in Madisonville, Kentucky.
Roy was born December 20th, 1921 in Calloway County, Missouri to Paul Gilbert and Nellie Ethyl (Blythe) Holt (both deceased). He was also preceded in death by his wife of 75 years Louise, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and one daughter, Judy Lee Bryant.
Roy was the 2nd of 9 children when his father died. At 14, he and his older brother (PG) went to work in order to keep the family together. This type of commitment and fortitude served Roy well throughout his life. On August 9th, 1941, he married Elizabeth Louise Fourt. He was hardworking and creative, even helping to design mining equipment that was the predecessor of equipment still used today.
Roy loved family and enjoyed getting together with them as often as possible. He also had a love of horses which he shared with many of his family and friends.
Roy is survived by his brother Billy of Mexico, MO; his sister Wanda of Fulton, MO; two daughters, Linda Dement and Shirley Haynie and one son, Roy Dale (Tammy) Holt all of Madisonville; nine grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday , February 5, 2018 at Providence First Christian Church with Rev. Jeff Mandrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence First Christian Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
